Adventuring Into 2022

I am not sure about the rest of you but I think we can all agree that the last two years have been a bit of a turd sandwich in most instances.  This blog has been a labor of love for me that I am going to try better in the coming months to further build.  As a father of two young boys I find that time is honestly my most precious resource and between helping keep our house in order, take care of the boys, do all the family activities and work, the website and my writing take a bit of a back burner.  I will do better in 2022 however and have some exciting content to cover!

Early in 2021 I was doing some reflection on riding and had the realization that I love the exploring aspect of riding. A lot of adventure (ADV) riders had been showing up in my feeds. Guys like rtwPaul, Lyndon Poskitt and braaping_kiwi all had awesome adventures with just their bikes and a little gear. I love the outdoors; I have a motorcycle license and I love to ride off-road so it only makes sense.  The only problem was I don’t have a “dual sport” road legal bike.  I did a lot of research and decided on probably the most sought after ADV bike out right now the Yamaha Tenere 700.  I have reserved one that should be available in March 2022.

My plan is to pull together a build series on all the parts and accessories I plan to use as well as a bunch of reviews of both the bike and bits and pieces. I am in the first stages of planning to compete the North East Backcountry Discovery Route (NEBDR) in the summer of 2023. The NEBDR is a mixed road / off-road route starting on the New York / Pennsylvania border and traveling 1,300 mi back to Maine. It should make for some epic riding and a great experience.

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas and that you have an even better 2022.  My hope for 2022 is that we can all stay healthy and be more understanding with each other.  My one true wish is that we be a bit less divided and get back to the basics of being good people to one another.  All the best to you in 2022 and get out there and ride dirt bikes!
