Welcome to thedirtbikedad.com. First off, thank you for taking the time to visit this blog based on all things off road! I created this site with much encouragement from my wife as I think she was over me talking about dirt bikes basically 24-7. My name is Jake and I am a husband to my beautiful wife, Melissa, and father of two wonderful boys, Oliver and Cooper. I am an electrical engineer during the day and a typical 30-something husband, father and “fixer” of all things broken around the house all other times.
I grew up in the wonderful state of Maine and have lived here most of my life. I began riding off road machines when I was around 10 and dirt bikes when I was around 12. I lost touch with off road riding as “life” happened but began frequently riding again in 2018. It all started when Melissa and I discussed the fact that our son Oliver clearly had a major obsession with the “dirt bike kid” neighbor who was always running up and down our dirt road and also seemed to be in love with bikes. So, I had the perfect excuse to buy another bike and get back into riding! This is all it took for me to get hooked again.
It is my goal to discuss the aspects of riding that mean the most to me. My plan as of now is to cover a bit of everything including general dirt biking discussion, bike maintenance tips, product reviews, and riding tips. Most importantly, I will try to answer questions people may have using my own experiences and lessons learned. I would like most to help anyone considering the sport and ensure a great helpful atmosphere to get more people riding. I will try to post on a somewhat regular schedule but only time will tell how that works out for me!
